Conservative led Wiltshire Council has welcomed the recent announcement from the Chancellor that charities will get access to £750m to support their work during these difficult times.
The council has been working with charity and community organisations closely and providing support and guidance to ensure the most vulnerable in the county get the help they need.
Through the council's area board grants scheme, applications have been submitted for COVID-19 related projects and the council welcomes any more applications for grants that will benefit communities during this difficult time.
The Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub, recently set-up by the council, has provided a good opportunity to link those who are struggling or vulnerable to local community groups in their local area where appropriate.
Conservative Cllr Philip Whitehead, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "We greatly value the work of charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in Wiltshire, and our teams are working very closely with these groups to make it as easy as possible for them to provide support to the people who need it most.
"Although we're awaiting the full details of how the new charity funding will be distributed, this is positive news and recognises the importance of the charities' role and the positive difference they are making for so many people in our communities."
