The Labour Market Information tool helps people understand the local job market, identifying Wiltshire opportunities and what skills may be required for different workplaces.
It was developed by the Employment and Skills team at Conservative led Wiltshire Council and is already in use in local schools to help those looking at their next steps after education. But it also has wider relevance as people of all ages can find out about next steps in education or the workplace, apprentice opportunities and identify potential routes into the local labour market.
The interactive tool has a host of data to help identify what jobs and occupations are in someone's area, typical pay rates, qualifications, types and levels of apprenticeships, and the skills needed for different workplaces.
It pulls on data from multiple sources and is continuously updated based on the latest data sources. It is free to access and available on the Work Wiltshire website.
Conservative Cllr Laura Mayes, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said,
We are proud to offer this interactive tool that can help people at any stage of their career, whether just starting to enter the world of work or looking to increase skills and training to explore their potential.
We hope this toolkit is useful in helping our local communities to better understand the local labour market in Wiltshire and the surrounding areas, and aid people's decisions on what direction they may want to go.
Catherine Young, Careers Leader at Kingsbury Green Academy in Calne, said,
We are very lucky to have the support of Work Wiltshire and the up to date and impartial Labour Market Information (LMI) that they provide for our local areas. At KGA, we update our students and their families on LMI via careers and subject lessons and social media. Having reliable infographics that summarise key information in a bright, clear way helps to increase our students' interest and awareness of the labour market for which they are preparing to enter.
The Labour Market Information tool is available at Work Wiltshire Labour Market Information.
