Figures released today (2 March) show 98.5% of Wiltshire children will attend one of their preferred choices of secondary school from this September up from 98% last year.
Wiltshire has been able to offer 94% of parents a place at their first preference school which is up 1% on last year, and 98.5% of parents a place at one of their preferred schools an increase of 0.5% on 2019.
Parents who applied online have found out their decisions today, while those who applied by post will have their decisions posted out to them today (2 March). The number of parents applying online has risen again to 97% this year, compared to 96% in 2019.
The results of online applications are available online.
Parents will need their user ID and password to access their decisions.
There were 4,917 applications received down 64 on 2019. This is due to the number of children transferring to secondary school in September 2020 being slightly less than in 2019. The numbers are anticipated to be larger for the 2021 entry.
Conservative Cllr Pauline Church, Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Skills said: "I'm really pleased the numbers of young people who are being offered their preferences have risen again. This is such an important time for all our young people and to know they will be going to one of their preferred schools will be a great help to them and their families.
All applicants have until Monday 16 March 2020 to accept the offer they receive. The right to an independent appeal is open to anyone who has not received an offer at their preferred school.
Details of how to appeal are included in the decision letter posted to all applicants and further information is also available online.
