Conservative led Wiltshire Council has received a generous donation of 8,000 Easter eggs from the world's largest food and beverage company Nestle, for critical workers and vulnerable residents across the county.
Nestle delivered the free treats to the council's Wellbeing Hub in Salisbury, which has been set up to support people in need during the COVID-19 crisis with the co-ordination of emergency food parcels to residents across Wiltshire.
People receiving food parcels will get an extra sweet treat in their next delivery thanks to the generosity of Nestle who wished to donate surplus Easter eggs to deserving causes throughout the UK.
In addition to being distributed in emergency food parcels, the eggs have been delivered far and wide across Wiltshire to foodbanks and frontline staff working in schools, nurseries, social care, NHS, police, fire and rescue and refuse collectors to say a big ‘thank you' for the amazing work they're doing to deliver critical services to our residents at this time.
Conservative Cllr Philip Whitehead, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "We're very grateful to Nestle for donating these Easter eggs for us to distribute across the county to vulnerable people and critical workers in Wiltshire.
Our frontline services have worked tirelessly during the pandemic and their commitment and contribution is hugely appreciated. This is just a little way we can say ‘thank you' for their amazing efforts and provide a treat for the most vulnerable members of our community who have been particularly affected by COVID-19".
