Wiltshire Council Leader Cllr Richard Clewer has thanked Conservative Cllr Simon Jacobs for his hard work and commitment after it was confirmed he would be stepping down from his role at the end of this month.
At a cabinet meeting today (27 September), it was confirmed Cllr Jacobs would leave his role as Cabinet Member for Public Health, Public Protection, Licensing, Staffing, Communities and Area Boards due to work commitments.
From October the position will be taken up by Cllr Ashley O'Neill, who was welcomed to his new role at the meeting. Cllr Jacobs will continue as a councillor for Devizes South.
Cllr Clewer said:
I want to thank Cllr Jacobs for his service on cabinet. Cllr Jacobs has been a strong voice and shown great commitment to his role. I would like to recognise his contribution to the cabinet and I wish him well for the future. As a cabinet we now look forward to working with Cllr O'Neill as he takes on this important role at Wiltshire Council.
Cllr Jacobs said:
It's been a huge honour and privilege to stand and be part of what is an extraordinary organisation and people who make up the council both officers and members. I think we have a great bunch of people and Wiltshire has a bright future.
